Lumber Liquidators illegal logging

Why do people continue to support this company?

Illegal Logging    Please click this link to watch the video describing the actions of this company. The largest retailer of hardwood flooring in the U.S. has been fined $13M for buying illegal wood from Russia. A small token compared to what they made on that wood, but its a start.

Records show that on other occasions, “Lumber Liquidators falsely reported the species or harvest country of timber when it was imported into the United States.  In 2013, Lumber Liquidators imported Mongolian oak from Far East Russia which it declared to be Welsh oak and imported merpauh from Myanmar which it declared to be mahogany from Indonesia.” Mongolian oak was added to the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) Appendix III in June 2014.

Formaldehyde and CARB II Compliance Resources

Dear Clients and prospective Clients,

With the recent publicity on formaldehyde emissions from Laminate flooring generated by the very negative report aired last Sunday night on “60 minutes” which focused on products made in China that contained elevated levels of formaldehyde and failed to meet the minimum CARB standards to be legally sold in the state of California, I am obligated to assure you that All products which we currently market or plan to introduce are CARB compliant.

For over 30 years, Solana Flooring has always focused on bringing “High Quality” as opposed to “The Lowest Priced” products to our showroom while educating our clients on the high value attributes of our products. This includes adhering to the minimum emission standards of CA. and educating our sales team about those minimum standards.

We require all supplier partners to provide documentation of compliance before we agree to sell their product. To that extent, beyond this letter of assurance, if you wish to have additional information or specific product documentation you may request this from your sales rep.

Solana Flooring is committed to providing you with the information necessary to instill confidence and answer any questions our consumers may have about our products.

The purpose of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) • Starting January 1, 2009, California began regulating the formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products (particle board, MDF, HDF & hardwood plywood) sold in this state to make finished goods.

For more information, please visit the state website at: Carb Rule

Solana Flooring takes great pride in only offering CARB compliant products in our showroom.

Maple Wood Floors in Encinitas

This was a job we completed for some friends of ours looking for Maple Wood Floors in Encinitas. They actually lived in Colorado which made for a very interesting selection process. Fortunately, we had a good rapport with them and they had confidence in our expertise and ability to find just the right product for this home. After exchanging e-mails, text messages, photos, letters, and samples, we had an idea of what they wanted. We stained the wood and they were able to look at and approve the color while they were in town visiting Legoland.

Here are some pictures of the home before the installation of the new flooring.

The living room had carpet the homeowners were eager to remove.

Maple Living Before

The kitchen and dining had old, outdated vinyl composition tiles.

Maple Kitchen Before

This bedroom had well worn wood flooring, probably original to the house.

Maple Bedroom before

Here are photos of new solid 3 1/4″ maple select flooring.

The floor was a perfect choice for this cozy bungalow just a stone’s throw away from the water in the easy going beach town of Encinitas.

Maple wood has a clean, tight grain. Though it can be difficult to stain, in the hands of capable craftsman, beautiful, varied shades can be created using unfinished maple. Even natural maple is appealing. There are different grades available for maple. From clear grade for a very clean, contemporary look to common grade which has a more rustic appearance due to more knots, mineral streaks, and wider shade variation. Whatever your aesthetic preferences, there is a maple floor perfect for your home. There are numerous styles and colors available in prefinished, engineered products as well. Come by or give us a call if you think a new maple wood floor would work for your home.
